HENRY ODEIN AJUMOGOBIA, SAN
Henry Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, is a distinguished legal professional and public servant with a career spanning over four decades. A graduate of the Nigerian Law School (1979) and Harvard University (1988), he has received numerous accolades, including the University of Lagos Law Society Award for distinction in the legal profession and an LL.D (Honoris Causa) from Rivers State University. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London, 1996) and a founding/senior partner of Ajumogobia and Okeke, a leading Nigerian business and investment law firm. His legal expertise has been recognized through his appointment as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (2003), Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for Rivers State, and membership on the ICC Court of Arbitration.
Mr. Ajumogobia's extensive public service includes roles as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which he served as Head of Nigeria's delegation to OPEC and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). He has held significant positions on national councils, including the National Economic Management Team and the National Security Council, and has played key roles in international diplomacy, such as President of the UN Security Council (2010) and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of ECOWAS States. Notably, as Minister of State for Petroleum, he advocated for the deregulation of Nigeria's downstream oil sector, demonstrating his commitment to impactful policy reform.
